To All AED Members:
The Board of Directors has negotiated with Saint Louis University School of Medicine Practical Anatomy Workshop to allow students in Alpha Epsilon Delta to participate in a special weeklong program for premedical students known as Adventures in Medicine.
In the current medical school admission process, the professional medical experience a student is able to attain in their undergraduate career is a crucial aspect of the application. However, for many students, it can be a challenge to attain the necessary substantial experience to satisfy this aspect of the medical admission process. Naturally, AED is committed to the success of our membership, and have developed a relationship with the Saint Louis University Summer AIMS program to provide our students with the opportunity to participate in this focused medical experience. In this week, students will participate in cadaver exhibits, surgical shadowing, special medical presentations, simulation labs and a variety of activities that will allow them to explore the multiple specialties involved in medicine.
The cost for the program is $850.00, which includes the program costs, parking and room and board for the week. If you do not need room and board, the cost for participating in the Adventures in Medicine Program will be $650. These costs do not include transportation to or from the program, however, depending on the interest in this first year, we will try to help with transportation from the airport.
If you or other members of your AED Chapter are interested in participating in the in the Practical Anatomy AIMS Program, please visit sites.google.com/a/slu.edu/aims09/.
You can also contact the AIMS program directly at (314) 977-7399. The deadline for the application to participate is April 23, 2010.
